This training is aimed at senior managers, policy makers, project leaders within organisations to union learning reps and front-line staff, in fact anyone who might have responsibility for or come into contact with adults who would benefit from improving their literacy skills. The focus of the awareness training is on understanding the literacy skills needed for work, education and life, being aware of available sources of support and recognising where that support might be appropriate.
The 1 day training course consists of the following short segments:
Understanding Literacy needs for work, education and life
Skills check and signposting
Inclusive approaches to providing information
Supporting and promoting a responsive service
If in the course of your work, either paid or voluntary, you come into contact with adults who you feel would benefit from help and support that would enable them to feel more confident about reading and writing, for example, filling in forms, reading important information e.g. a letter from the hospital or school, then this training is essential for you!
